NY Visit - Empire State Building
This day we went to the Empire State building. We had a plan to visit the central park, but the long line for the empire state buildng visit made it impossible for us to go to the central park. However we enjoyed the beauty of NY city from the building.

Staten Island to Mahattan Ferry
I took some really good pictures of the city and the sea from the city.

In the city

From the Empire State Building
There was a simulated city tour inside the empire state building. We had gone through the tour and enjoyed it very much. After that at the end of a long queue we could get to the top of the Empire State Building.

NY Visit - Metropolitan Museum of Art

It was Dec 28, 2005. We woke up late and decided to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It closes at 5:30 pm each day, so we could not visit all of it, even we missed the vinci, misorian mommy etc. We had a plan to visit it second time, but could not accomodate another day for it. I hope visit it once again some other time.

On our way - Ferry and Battery Park

From a billboard in front of the sculpture above -

For three decades, this sculpture stood in the plaza of the World Trade Center. Entitled "The Sphere," it was conceived by artist Fritz Koenig as a symbol of world peace. It was damaged during the tragic events of September 11, 2001, but endures as an icon of hope and the industructible spirit of this country. The Spehre was placed here on March 11, 2002 as a temporary memorial to all who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center.

This eternal flame was ignited on September 11, 2002 in honor of all those who were lost. Their spirit and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

At this point Tushi went on throwing coins of hope, I was there ready to take a video. Suddenly a boy fell into the water of the spring. :) I could take a video of that incident. Click here to watch the video (~9MB).

Throughing penny for hope.

At this point we were out of batteries and were hungry. So we went out and returned again.

We entered the museum again. But this time we went up to the second floor to see other arts. We could only visit the section of modern arts.

Tushi is kinda confused, is this a good thing to take a picture with? ;)

This is the Van Gogh, could you recognize it? I was amazed and very excited to stand in front of such works. Other images are given below.

Before returning Tushi got a limo to take snap with. :)

NY Visit - Statue of LibertyIt was the third day, Dec 27, 2005, and we decided to go to the Statue of Liberty.

Tushi discussing with her aunti about how to get there in Statue of Liberty.

Me and Tushi in front of the uncles house Tushi.
And with chachi.

From the ferry
We got very nice view of the Manhattan city and Statue of Liberty from our way to the Manhattan city. We had to use the free ferry service to get there.

Although the day was sunny the river was little bit foggy and the weather was windy and cold, probably due to the rain previous night.

The Statue of Liberty
We had to stay a 1 hour long line to get to the boat to liberty island. We were fortunate to get tickets from a couple who bought the ticket but were not willing to go there at that time. This saved about an hour of waiting for the ticket. :)

The boat has started the journey.

New York Visit - First Day

We reached New York in a glummy rainy day, Dec 25, 2005. Moutushi's uncle picked us up from the LaGuardia airport. We reached his home and had a nice dinner. We took rest for that day.

The next day we woke up at afternoon 1 o'clock. :) Imon bhai, Moutushi's cousin, took us to the Manhattan City and Jackson Heights.

This is the UN headquarter in the Manhattan city. I took the picture from the running car.

The picture at the right is the time square, shot from the car.

We near the Angon restaurant 6th St Manhattan.

We in the Jackson Heights. Look at the names of different shops in Bangla. We felt like we returned to Bangladesh while we were there.
